Flower, Produce & Craft Show

It's the time for planting seeds and get growing! Check out the 2025 Growing Schedule below...

The creative heart of the Binsted Fete is the traditional Flower, Produce & Craft competition - an important aspect of the event since the 1800's! There is something for everyone to enter whether you are 4 to 104. It's a perfect way to show off your green fingers, home bake specialties and craft creations and everyone has a chance of taking one of our beautiful trophies to proudly display at home until next year.

Cups and Trophies to be won:

 

Vegetables, Fruit & Flowers

  • Joan and Terry Cox Cup: best Vegetables exhibit (Class 1) 

  • Gwyther Cup: best Fruit exhibit (Class 2)

  • Millenium Cup: best Sweet Peas (either Class 3 or Class 4)

  • Joan Carr Memorial Cup: best Roses (either Class 5 or Class 6)

  • Stephens Cup: best Flower Arrangement (Class 7)

  • Moore Cup: best overall exhibit in the Fruits, Vegetables & Flower Arrangement Classes

  • Cox Cup: most points across the Fruits, Vegetables & Flower Arrangement Classes

 

Produce 

  • Charlotte Bonham Carter Cup: best exhibit in the Produce section

  • Holcroft Cup: most points across the Produce section

 

Arts & Crafts 

  • South Hay Cup: best exhibit across the Arts & Crafts section

 

  • Hampden Junior Cup: best exhibit across all competition Classes by a child

Categories

VEGETABLES  (Class 1)

A selection of three different kinds of vegetable from the following list in an appropriately sized box (ensuring the correct number of each variety of vegetable are included as specified below):

  • Peas (5 pods) 

  • Broad beans (5 pods)

  • Runner beans (5 pods)

  • French beans (5 pods)  

  • Carrots (bunch of 5)

  • Beetroot (3 roots leaves trimmed and tied with raffia)  

  • Potatoes (dish of 5)

  • Cabbage (2 heads)

  • Lettuce (2 heads)

  • Onions (2)   

  • Tomatoes (3)

  • Cucumbers (2)

  • Courgettes (with or without flowers) (3)

 

FRUIT  (Class 2)

  • Rhubarb, 3 sticks, trimmed leaf & clean root (don’t trim root)

 

SWEET PEAS, ONE COLOUR (Class 3)

  • 9 stems of one colour of sweet pea (vase provided)

SWEET PEAS, MIXED COLOURS (Class 4)

  • 3 stems of sweat pea, all in different colours (vase provided)

ROSES (Class 5)

  • 3 matching stems of either a large headed, spray or cluster flowered (Floribunda) variety of rose (vase provided)

 

ROSES, SCENTED (Class 6)

  • 1 stem of a scented rose, condition is not important (vase provided)

FLOWER ARRANGEMENT (Class 7)

  • POSY: This can be using any colours or materials you wish. The posy should be no bigger than 40cm wide x 40cm deep, but can be any height. To be displayed in water. You do not need to have grown flowers and foliage used in this arrangement.

JUNIOR CATEGORY

  • Any exhibit grown and staged by someone aged 16 or under.
