History

Do you have any stories, memories or photos of past Fetes in Binsted?

If so, we'd love to hear from you. Get In Touch.

Originally called the Binsted Horticultural Show and then the Binsted Fete & Flower Show, the first mention of a similar community event in our beautiful Hampshire village was in the Binsted School's Log Book back in 1893. At that time, the Show used the Schoolrooms, which meant that no School could be held on those days and the Head Teacher made an entry in the Log Book saying ...

26 July 1893                “Flower Show and Fete. The children competed with dressed dolls and wild flowers.”

Our fabulous history buffs found some amazing photos of Fete records...

More recently, we've been given some photos from the 2006 Fete - it looks like lots of fun being had! Do you recognise anyone? Why not help us put names to faces - Get in Touch

Did you know that Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery, aka 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, is buried in Holy Cross Church's grave yard in Binsted?

In this year of remembering the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, Binsted Fete is thrilled to be able to display 'Monty's' much beloved Rolls Royce Phantom 3 on the 13th July 2024.

We send our heartfelt thanks to the Royal Logistics Corps Museum for bringing this stunning National Monument of Historical Significance along for our visitors to enjoy!
